Seventh Leg of Loudon Road Racing Series at NHIS
(September 1-2, 2001)

It was a weekend of ups and downs for the team! Practice went well, Paolo received his first plaque as an Expert taking a 4th place finish, Ed raced his first weekend as a Junior/Expert and oh yes, Tony crashes for a third consecutive race day! The trip subsequent ambulance ride and hospital visit revealed no broken bones, but quite a shattered ego. As only Tony can, he blamed all of his problems on his motorcycle and as such will be racing an all new 2001 GSX-R 600 at the last race weekend of the season September 29. On a fun note the team parrticipated in the 200-mile endurance race on Sunday (the first such race at Loudon in over ten years!). After running 7th during a good portion of the race, Paul Gilbert (a rider on loan to the team) low-sided. Fortunately we were able to make repairs during a red flag and re-enter the race to finish 13th in our class. Congrats to Paolo, Ed, Jeff Haole, Chris Rayner and Paul Gilbert for their efforts in the endurance race. Special thanks to Ed for letting the team use his SV650 for the race and being such a good sport about the crash! And last but not least, again, the whole team would like to thank Steve "The Man Slave" for his invaluable help throughout the weekend repairing and maintaining the bikes and riders.

The team had quite a weekend at Loudon for the sixth leg of the LRRS. Noticeably absent and greatly missed was Ed Fox, who had prior personal commitments to attend to. The weekend started out great with Tony taking 3rd place in his first ever race as a Junior/Expert in the GTO and putting together a few laps in the 1:19s. Paolo working on his second weekend as an Expert was able to garner a 6th, 8th and 9th place finish this weekend racking up another 14 expert points, bringing his total to 21. Paolo also found out that he is in possible contention for the Vanson Rookie of the Year! So now point watchers keep an eye out for the fast racer. Paolo and Tony were also upgraded to the Expert Blue Sticker practice this past weekend putting them in with literally the fastest racers on the Loudon circuit. Tony was able to garner a few top tens with his 3rd place including an 8th and two 9th place finishes. Alan Desino continued racing with the team this weekend and took a 24th place in his endurance race, giving him his personal best finish ever on his Ducati 900ss. Last but not least, the whole team would like to thank Steve "The Man Slave" for his invaluable help throughout the weekend repairing and maintaining the bikes and riders.

The latest weekend at NHIS can only be described as nothing short of incredible. Tony took home 2 trophies with a 4th place finish in the GTO and 5th place in the Heavyweight Super Sport races. Ed took 3 4th place trophies in lightweight Gran Prix and Formula Forty. Paolo while finishing last or close to it in all of his races, during his first weekend as an Expert reached a personal best time of 1:18! The entire team was elated by all of the personal milestones reached. Including new personal best times of 1:20 for Tony and 1:25 for Ed. Sunday Ed and Tony had Paolo install their new Junior Plates. So the entire team is out of the amateurs for good!

The team was at NHIS for the fourth leg of the Loudon Road Racing Series followed by a track day hosted by Motorex on Tuesday. These five days turned out to be some of the most rewarding and exciting days the team as seen thus far! Major achievements had by all included, Paolo achieving his Expert status, Ed turning 1:26s on his SV and Tony aachieving enough points for his Junior/Expert plate and bringing his lapt times down to 1:23s! The mood on Sunday was nothing short of pure satisfaction as Paolo took home 4 more plaques, 1 for 2nd place, 1 for 3rd and 2 for 4th place finishes and Ed took home his first plaques ever with a 2nd place in the Lightweight Gran Prix and 2nd Place in the Formula Forty! The track day on Tuesday was icing on the cake as we met up with fellow friends and riding club members Nick, Allan, Kevin and Guy.

Summit Point Raceway Track Day with Team Pro-Motion
(June 23-24, 2001)...Click here for photos

The team was at Summit Point Raceway for a track day with Team Pro-Motion during the weekend. Both track days utilized the Jefferson Circuit of the track. The weekend was a rewarding experience for each of us in its own way. The Jefferson Circuit is notoriously slippery and provided valuable training for sliding a motorcycle through this short circuit (1.1 miles). Turn 1 was especially slippery with a number of Team Pro-Motion members washing out throughout the weekend. As usual, Paolo was the fastest of our team out on the circuit with a great showing by Ed. Tony tried the Aprilia RS250 for a couple of sessions contemplating entering the lightweight class. It was definitely an interesting ride!

The team gets a new ride!
(June 29, 2001)

The team just ordered its new race trailer! Due to arrive July 2nd, the trailer is 17 feet long by 8.5 feet wide. Thanks to Paolo for finding the great deal and taking care of the logistics. Thanks to Tony and Ed for the interior layout and design. We will post a virtual tour of the trailer once it is completed. The trailer will make its debut appearance at Loudon on July 6th.
